About Daughters of Banaras
We are two sisters born and raised in the timeless city of Banaras, where every street echoes with tradition and every weave tells a story. After spending 4–5 years in the corporate world, we felt a strong pull to return to our roots — to something more meaningful, something that felt like home. Leaving behind stable jobs wasn’t easy, but the desire to follow our passion and honour our family’s legacy gave us the courage to take that leap.
Our connection with Banarasi sarees runs deep. Our great-grandfather was a respected figure in the saree trade, known for his fine eye for craftsmanship and love for the art. Although our grandfather had to step away from the family business due to his government job, the love for Banarasi textiles never left our home. Stories of our ancestors, their lives intertwined with the looms and lanes of Banaras, inspired us to revive what was once a proud family tradition.
Daughters of Banaras is not just a business for us — it’s a tribute to our heritage and a heartfelt attempt to bring the timeless beauty of Banarasi sarees, dupattas, and suits to the world. Every piece we offer is carefully curated, keeping in mind the grace and grandeur that Banaras is known for. We believe in making these treasures accessible, which is why we work with love, fair margins, and a deep respect for the artisans who make it all possible.
This is our journey — from boardrooms to weaving rooms, from numbers to threads, from corporate life to carrying forward a legacy that we hold close to our hearts.
Welcome to our world!
